Week 10 Waiver Wire

A very intriguing week this past week was. None of the NFC teams seemed to be playing up to par; Arizona looked great without Kyler/Nuk and Titans remained the top seed in the AFC. It's getting interesting, which will spell more competition for us fantasy players! On to Week 10!

Teams on bye: Bears, Bengals, Giants, Texans

Quarterbacks

  • Teddy Bridgewater vs PHI (26% rostered)
  • Ben Roethlisberger vs DET (27% rostered)

I ate my words going against Teddy B as he absolutely picked apart a red hot Dallas team. One factor that helped Teddy was Javonte's breakout performance going for over 100 yards. With a matchup against a questionable Philly team, who gave up 356 yards last week to Herbert, Teddy B makes for an excellent plug-and-start this week in 2QB/Superflex leagues. I'm normally not a Big Ben fan, but he's played well enough lately and with the Hapless Lions upcoming, I can definitely consider him a strong start this week in place of Danny Dimes or Joe Burrow

Others to consider: Mac Jones vs CLE (30% rostered)
Players to avoid: Baker Mayfield, Trevor Lawrence
Droppable: Jordan Love, Sam Darnold

Runningbacks

  • Devonta Freeman @ MIA (20% rostered)
  • Ty Johnson vs BUF (13% rostered)
  • Jordan Howard @ DEN (14% rostered)

It looks like this is the best we are going to get out of the Ravens - despite all the hate for them grabbing Freeman and Bell; they both have actually looked decent. This is still going to be a committee moving forward, as I don't personally believe either can handle a full workload; Freeman has been a bright spot in what was a dreadful position for the Ravens scoring double digit point total in the last 3 games. He should definitely keep his role even if Murray returns. I like Ty this week, and probably moving forward. The Jets won't be leading in many games, realistically and he's their preferred receiving back. While Buffalo did suffer a debilitating loss to the Jaguars their defense still only allowed 9 points; I'd expect them to keep the Jets in check, spelling opportunities for Ty in the passing game. Now, for the big one, it's not been Gainwell and, it's not been Scott, it's been Howard - who's been flip flopping from starter to practice squad the last two weeks - who's been the main guy. He's providing this team a run game they didn't have - or use - when Sanders was healthy, it's very hard to imagine he doesn't have a role when Sanders returns, in the meantime, he's definitely the back to roster in this backfield until further notice.

Others to consider: Rhamondre Stevenson (6% rostered), Sony Michel (33% rostered)
If they are still there: AJ Dillon (62% rostered), Kenyan Drake (63% rostered)
Drop Candidates: Latavius Murray, Jeff Wilson
Players I'm avoiding: David Johnson, Boston Scott, Jamaal Williams

Wide Receivers

  • Rashod Bateman @ MIA (36% rostered)
  • Russell Gage @ DAL (16% rostered)
  • Elijah Moore/Jamison Crowder vs BUF (27%/24% rostered)

I believe the entire fantasy community is grinning right now - as Bateman is showing the promise we expected from him from the moment he was drafted. Averaging 6+ targets since being activated and getting double digit production in the last 2 games, it's safe to say you're going to want to grab him moving forward. Thursday's game may be a breakout one for him, if Hollywood is limited in anyway, all eyes will be on him in any event. Russell Gage showed up - good for him, and those that believed in him. I did not, especially when Ridley announced he was stepping away and Gage did not step up. The same couldn't be said this week - perhaps this a sign of things to come. He's a fringe FLEX consideration for me against a Dallas team who will be looking to take their revenge out on this team after being embarrassed. Let's hope for a repeat of last year's matchup. I been dreading this, to be honest, I honestly cannot decided who I want more in Crowder v Moore; if Davis remains out, they both have considerable value - if not, this would lean to Crowder as the favored target. In any case, I would recommend grabbing one or the other if they other is rostered, but Crowder being the favorite, of course.

Others to consider: Deonte Harris (15% rostered), Randall Cobb (19% rostered)
If they're still there: Hunter Renfrow (65% rostered), Brandon Aiyuk (61% rostered)
Players I'm avoiding: Tyler Boyd, Robby Anderson, Kenny Golladay
Drop Candidates: Laviska Shenault, Calvin Ridley (Redraft), Michael Thomas (RD)

Tight Ends

  • Pat Friermuth v DET (41% rostered)
  • Tyler Conklin @ LAC (38% rostered)

Big Pat delivered for me in one of my big stakes leagues and I was very high on him going into this week; he snagged 2 TDs on 6 targets for 43 yards. This could be an intriguing stack with Big Ben in their matchup with Detriot. Conklin has seemingly thrusted himself as a main target in this offense, he's done an admirable job filling in preseason darling ISJ - and overtaken Osborn's initial role to boot, he makes for an excellent streaming option if Pat is not there.

Drop Candidates: Jonnu Smith
