Week 3 Waiver Wire

As we close the chapters with Week 2 - I'd like to thank everyone who did not overreact to Week 1. Sending good vibes to everyone who spent more than $40 of FAAB on Eli Mitchell - that was insane. With injuries mounting up this week, here's what you need to know.

  • Taylor Heinicke @ BUF (4% rostered)
  • Sam Darnold @ HOU (15% rostered)
  • Daniel Jones vs ATL (19% rostered)

Heinicke is again a top add for me and I'll be taking a victory lap for that, but just one. He has a much tougher matchup against Buffalo, who just blanked Miami, I don't expect him to play as bad as Brissett, but this will be a true test for me. He won't be startable for me, unless in bigger leagues, but you want to grab him as it stands. Darnold is having a pretty decent season, no longer being hindered by Adam Gase - he had a respectable showing against a Saints defense, albeit without Marshon Lattimore, he deserves a start when they travel to Houston. Danny Dimes - I'm a big fan, as I don't think his hate is warranted. He had his TD run called back on a phantom penalty and a wide-open bomb to Slayton, which would've even cemented his pick up this week. Atlanta is coming to town and they can't stop anyone on defense, grab Danny and start him.

Others to consider: Jacob Eason (0% rostered) Jimmy Garoppolo (10% rostered) Justin Fields (51% rostered)

  • James White vs NO (42% rostered)
  • JD McKissic @ BUF (29% rostered)
  • Alexander Mattison (32% rostered)

I do like how White always continues to keep himself relevant, despite the constant revolving door of RBs for the Patriots. While this is very clearly Damien Harris' backfield, it's very apparent that White's still favored especially when the pace begins to quicken, he's very helpful for Mac Jones to rely on. McKissic had a terrible week 1 and was written off by many for registering a single target and only 1 rush for 8 yards. I have firmly believed in his usage and this showed on Thursday Night Football, as his snap count rose and was the favored back in the 4th quarter at one point sprinting for a 56 yard gain. I like Mattison as an add here, he's always been an elite handcuff, but in this scenario insurance in case Cook misses anytime.

Others to consider:  Kenneth Gainwell (36% rostered) Larry Rountee (17% rostered) Samaje Perine (1% rostered)
If they are still there: Sony Michel (60% rostered) Michael Carter (50% rostered) Zack Moss (49% rostered)
Players I'm avoiding: Tony Jones Jr, Peyton Barber

Wide Receivers

  • KJ Osborn vs SEA (3% rostered)
  • Hunter Renfrow vs MIA (6% rostered)
  • Rondale Moore @ JAX (34% rostered)

Let me preface this by saying, I'm a firm believer that targets turn to production - I know it's not news, but I feel like this needs to be said. That said, Osborn is on the rise in this department. He's been heavily targeted in the last two games turning 15 targets into 12/167/1, of course this is dictated by game script looking ahead to the next 4 games before bye - it's a high possibility that 3 of the 4 games will be pass-heavy games. Next, we got the walk-on from Clemson who's continued to prove to be the most reliable pass catcher in Las Vegas, he may not be the most exciting but his production is steady. Renfrow may get a few more looks in the upcoming game, if Carr isn't available and Las Vegas must switch to a backup - sans Mariota - Renfrow/Waller would be heavily targeted. Rondale Moore, how exciting is it that I'm writing about the right Moore so early. Landing in an excellent spot, he's showing a chemistry with Murray already and reaping the benefits of an offense that has one of the best WRs in the game in Hopkins along with AJ Green and Christian Kirk. We should taper our expectations for Moore and not expect broken coverages every week, but he's a solid add this week especially against Jacksonville.

Others to consider: Braxton Berrios (0% rostered), Zach Pascal (16% rostered), Adam Humphries (1% rostered)
If they're still there: Marquise Brown (66% rostered) Sterling Shepard (57% rostered)
Players I'm avoiding: Will Fuller, Mecole Hardman, AJ Green

Tight Ends

  • Albert Okwuegbunam vs NYJ (0% rostered)
  • Harrison Bryant vs CHI (0% rostered)
  • Pat Friermuth vs CIN (7% rostered)

Juwan Johnson will be the reason I'll only be taking small victory laps, as he was a non-factor last week, but I still love the guy. That said, this week I'm not overly excited about any of the currently low rostered guys. I'll be touching on a few options that have decent matchups. Albert "Big Ok" he's actually had a steady value through 2 games, even though Fant is the clear starter, if you're looking for a dart throw - he'd be a good target. Harrison Bryant - he's buried below Hooper and Njoku, I know, but he still is seeing looks. I have him in some bigger leagues, so, be aware there's not going to all world numbers - yet. Pat is actually one I'm surprised to see is available in 93% of leagues (Yahoo) he's taking Ebron's job - I think that's pretty clear cut, here's to hoping he takes the ol' Heath Miller role!
