Week 8 Waiver Wire

We made it guys! Bye-maggedon is behind us! Congrats to those who made it through Bye-maggedon with a win. Back to our normal schedule of things...ish. Be very cautious with Green Bay and Chicago while they handle COVID protocols

Teams on bye: Raiders, Ravens
COVID caution: GB w/ Thursday night game

Quarterbacks

  • Danny Dimes at KC (28% rostered)
  • Trevor Lawrence at SEA (41% rostered)

Yes, back to Danny Dimes. I'm probably one of the biggest supporters of Daniel Jones, outside of NYG faithful. I'm also someone who doesn't believe in Kansas City's defense as a whole as they've been abysmal. Daniel Jones should have a field day through the air. Coming off a win against, statistically, the best defense and without 2 of their top WRs look for Jones for Boom matchup. Trevor Lawrence has slowly improved week-to-week, he's going through a lot of growing pains, however, this is one of the best matchups he'll have all year. Long away from their Legion of Boom status - Seattle has been the worst defense in the NFL, statistically speaking of course. Coming off a restful bye week, and keeping Urban Meyer out of the spotlight for the week - hopefully Lawrence can turn out a great performance this week.

Others to consider: Tyrod Taylor (4% rostered)
Players to avoid: Deshaun Watson, Joe Flacco
Droppable: Zach Wilson, Geno Smith

Runningbacks

  • Kenneth Gainwell @DET (22% rostered)
  • Brandon Bolden @ LAC (6% rostered)

This may be better for just a weekly add, but I'd suspect to say Gainwell will be this week's top add - although it was reported that Sanders could miss 2 weeks, Gainwell stands to gain from his absence. While he did receive more volume, Scott was the favored ball carrier, this could eat to his potential, but he's still worth the add. It's funny, how Bolden has seemingly been added back to fantasy relevancy this year. Of course, he's benefiting from James White's injury, but nonetheless - he was given the ball a lot of opportunity in the Patriots beatdown of the Jets. Again, another beneficiary of process elimination with Stevenson being a healthy scratch - New England must really like what they see in Bolden right now vs Stevenson.

Others to consider: Salvon Ahmed @BUF (1% rostered)
If they are still there: Khalil Herbert (59% rostered) Alex Collins (61% rostered)
Drop Candidates: Le'Veon Bell, Trey Sermon, Rashaad Penny
Players I'm avoiding: Ronald Jones, Marlon Mack

Wide Receivers

  • Allen Lazard @ARI (5% rostered)
  • Kalif Raymond v PHI (3% rostered)
  • Kendrick Bourne @LAC (6% rostered)

With Davante Adams being added to the COVID list, Lazard stands to benefit most from his absence this week. The ND-homer in myself, says St. Brown is another boom candidate in larger/deeper leagues - but Lazard is by far the best option moving forward. MVS is set to return and Cobb is still here - I think this will only open opportunities for Lazard rather than hinder him. Kalif Raymond - outside of a 2 target, 0 reception game - he's seen 6+ targets in 4 of his past 5 games and has had 6 catches in 3 of those. Goff seemingly turns to him when he's needing yards to gain, so definitely an intriguing add - against Philadelphia, he's got top WR3 potential this week. Kendrick Bourne is, surprisingly, not as rostered as you'd think for someone pulling in double digit fantasy points in 4 of the last 5 matchups. He's not seeing much consistent and high volume, but he does make due with his current volume, likely a bye week filler after this week for Weeks: 9,10,11

Others to consider: Rashod Bateman on Bye (32% rostered), Jamal Agnew at SEA (1% rostered) Equanimeous St. Brown (0% rostered)
If they're still there: Christian Kirk (64% rostered) Cole Beasley (56% rostered)
Players I'm avoiding: Amon-Ra St. Brown, Sterling Shepard
Drop Candidates: Laviska Shenault, Robby Anderson

Tight Ends

  • Cole Kmet vs SF (26% rostered)
  • Evan Engram at KC (31% rostered)

Kmet is finally seeing targets, cue the streamers. He's definitely trending up in this offense, that's not seen much life in the passing game as Justin Fields runs for his life and struggles. While this week isn't a strong option against San Francisco - I'm expecting for more consistent volume and will be a good Mandrews/Waller replacement this week.

Engram, maybe too early to deem comeback season, but so far, looking good to say the least. Albeit situational volume, but nonetheless, it seems like this is a trend for NYG to be down WRs, again another Bye-Filler TE.

Drop Candidates: Tampa Bay TEs; not Gronk, Jared Cook
